All prominent festivals like Gaura Pūrṇimā, Rāma-navamī, Nṛsiṃha-caturdaśī, Kṛṣṇa Janmāṣṭamī and Rādhāṣṭamī are celebrated in ISKCON Pattamundai. In addition to these festivals there are two other festivals that are celebrated for the pleasure of Rādhā-Mādhava: Candana-yātrā and Jhūlana-yātrā.
For three consecutive days during the yearly Candana-yātrā period, Rādhā-Mādhava are invited for a boat trip. An elegant wooden boat is arranged for Them to be seated on. During the yearly Jhūlana-yātrā period Rādhā-Mādhava are placed on a beautifully decorated wooden swing. This festival takes place for 5 consecutive days. While devotees swing Their Lordship, ecstatic congregational chanting is performed. During this festival around 56 Oriyan style food preparations are being offered to Radha-Madhava making it a true feast! This video gives an idea how Jhūlana-yātrā is celebrated in the temple.
Dr. Fakir Mohan Dās’ heartfelt desire
Now Rādhā-Mādhava have divinely reappeared for the entire Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava society, Dr. Fakir Mohan Dās expressed his heartfelt desire to establish a temple for Their Lordship. For this noble purpose he already secured landed property in Chhoti.
